Global View | Falling European Power Prices Push Trackers into the Spotlight

Publish Time:2026-10-29 Sources:Grace Solar

In August 2026, Germany's Federal Network Agency published the results of its latest ground-mounted PV tender: a total tender volume of 2,135 MW, with the weighted average winning bid price dropping to 4.79 euro cents/kWh—continuing the downward trend. Project developers' profit margins are being severely squeezed, forcing them to find solutions on the cost side and improve the output efficiency of every kilowatt-hour. Meanwhile, at the other end of Europe, a more instructive project was also grid-connected this year. In Spain's Vilecha 200MW project, all 365,000 modules are installed on tracking systems.

The Gain from Trackers

Large-scale ground-mounted plants in Europe are turning trackers from an "optional" choice into a "default" one—and this is not an isolated case. Persistently falling German tender prices mean developers can hardly profit from "selling high-priced electricity"; they can only dilute the per-kWh cost by generating more power. The lower the electricity price, the higher the value of trackers: trading a limited incremental equipment investment for increased generation. Similarly, for a 200MW plant, an 8% difference in generation—over a 20-year operating cycle—translates into electricity revenue differences sufficient to cover the incremental investment in trackers and generate substantial net returns. Higher initial equipment investment is exchanged for maximizing generation throughout the full lifecycle.

Grace Solar's Answer

When real money votes for tracking technology, whether tracking systems can deliver these gains in real power plant environments becomes particularly critical. Grace Solar's PV tracking system supports complex terrain and is compatible with current mainstream ultra-large-format modules, so there is no need to change mounting solutions due to module iteration. The system's intelligent tracking algorithm dynamically adjusts tracking strategies based on different terrain and weather conditions, ensuring modules always remain at optimal sunlight-capturing angles.

Delivery Beyond Electricity Prices

Germany's falling electricity prices, Spain's hundred-megawatt project turning to trackers... These signals outline the direction of the European PV market: in a low-price competitive environment, generation efficiency is the most certain source of revenue. But whether revenue can be realized does not depend on design drawings—it ultimately depends on whether installation is done to quality and grid connection occurs as promised. What Grace Solar has accumulated is not just a product line, but a cross-market delivery capability.
